String trimmer engines in their stock configuration are restricted on the intake and exhaust. Four easiest ways to improve the performance of your engine are bolt on.

A lighter high performance muffler.

A larger carburetor.

Enlarging your intake manifold to fit a larger carburetor.

Using a velocity stack to improve the fuel/air mixture.

Twister Manifold

The Twister Manifold for Homelites twists the carburetor clockwise 65-degrees.

Twister Manifold - $ 12.00

1. It allows the throttle to work on a horizontal plane
   and makes it easy to hook up the servo throttle linkage.

2. It gets the idle and high speed neeedles away from 
   the propeller. It is safer to tune.
 
3. The choke shaft becomes vertical so in an inverted
   engine set up, the choke shaft can be easily extended
   out the bottom of the cowling.

4. The thickness of the manifold is 1/4" less than a stock
   manifold, so it is easier to fit under or inside a 
   cowling.

Weedeater w/ electronic ignition

This is the Weedeater 21cc Featherlite using electronic ignition.
It is the lightweight of the gas string trimmer engines. It weighs 36 oz. and is powering an 80" wingspan Hangar 9 Cub.

Electronic Ignition Advantages
1. Removes 16-ounce flywheel and coil 
   assembly from engine.
2. Easy to hand start/low idle speed.
3. Improves high-speed performance.
4. Electronic ignition unit and battery 
   can be positioned for ideal C/G. 
   Requires a 4.8V 800 MA minimum 
   battery pack
